What is a Math Circle?
Math Circles are a form of education outreach and enrichment through which mathematicians and mathematical scientists share their passion with K-12 teachers and students...The Circles combine significant content with a setting that encourages a sense of discovery and excitement about mathematics through problem solving and interactive exploration. Ideal problems are low-threshold, high-ceiling; they offer a variety of entry points and can be approached with minimal mathematical background, but lead to deep mathematical concepts and can be connected to advanced mathematics.

What is Brookfield Math Circle's mission?
Brookfield Math Circle is eager to advance the cause for math circles in Wisconsin. Currently, we are the only math circle in the area that caters to students below 5th grade (the older component being the UW-Milwaukee Circle). We believe that it is important to inspire students mathematically at a young age, so that instead of “finding out” that STEM is necessary in high school, they will actually want to pursue it when they come of age.
A math circle doesn’t just teach students math. In fact, most students won’t even retain everything they learn. Math Circles mainly teach students how to think. The Circles cultivate lifelong problem solving skills in students, and allow them the freedom of thinking that they aren’t necessarily allowed in school. They emphasize that there are multiple ways to do a single problem, and that every way is legitimate; the main focus is to enhance your own style of thinking. Most importantly, they make math fun, by exploring topics such as Cryptology, 4th Dimensions, and Topology.

FAQ
How much do you charge per session?
Brookfield Math Circle is a nonprofit organization. All our sessions are free of charge.
What are the chances of getting into the Circle when currently on the waitlist?
Chances are that our sessions may be too easy or too hard for some students. Waitlisted students have a high probability of getting into our program. If your student doesn't get in, it's a good idea to leave your email with us anyway! We'll let you know of any future sessions we will be holding.
How advanced should my child be mathematically?
For Mobius and STEM & Flower, students should know at least to 4th grade math, and should be proficient readers.
For Klein, students should be well versed in Algebra 1 (at the very least).
My child has soccer every other Saturday, but still wants to come to Circle on all other Saturdays. Is this okay?
We do have a waitlist, so missing a large number of sessions means that you'll be taking up a spot another student could greatly benefit from. Please keep the guideline that your student should not miss more than 4 sessions.
Where is Brookfield Math Circle located?
